The Liturgical Year at St.George's
At St. George’s, we celebrate the Liturgical seasons through a rich form of worship. At the beginning and end of each term, we have Mass and a Liturgy and marks special dates in the Liturgical Calendar including All Saints, the Epiphany, Ash Wednesday, Holy Days of Obligation and the Feast day of our School Saint, St. George. We also have Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament and a Corpus Christi procession in June of each year. We are kindly assisted by Fr Daniel who teaches the children some Latin in order to help prepare them for some of the hymns we sing during this special time. Outside of school, the children are invited to help lead the Christmas Eve mass and the Station of the Cross service at Our Lady of Mount Carmel and St. George.
In school, our whole-school Liturgical board reflects the Liturgical seasons of the year, as do the RE boards and prayer areas in each classroom. Pupils take ownership in helping to look after these prayer areas, using appropriate resources.
