Our School Prayers
Please find below the prayers that we say at St. George’s. Some of the below prayers are traditional and some are personal to our school. As well as the prayers that are said below at specific times of the day, each class will also have an act of collective worship each day. This is now referred to as ‘Prayer and Liturgy’ in the new Prayer and Liturgy Directory, as it more fittingly describes its role in a Catholic school. This can take the form of prayer in class/in our Rosary Garden or their involvement in our class and phase Celebrations of the Word. Some class-based forms of prayer include an Examen, a Litany and Pope Francis Five Finger prayer. Children are reminded of their invitation to pray spontaneously. We also gather together in prayer during Mass, which is celebrated many times throughout the school year. More details can be found in our Annual Plan of Provision document. Our RE Lead is preparing plans for the implementation of the prayers as set out in the Prayer and Liturgy Directory, ready for implementation in September 2025. Following (x 8)
In everything we do today, We’re following Jesus and His Way,
Following Jesus and His Way,
In everything we do today,
We’re following…
Following Jesus and His Way
Our Father
Our Father, Who art in heaven,
hallowed be Thy name;
Thy kingdom come;
Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread;
and forgive us our trespasses
as we forgive those who trespass against us;
and lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.
Hail Mary
Hail, Mary, full of grace,
the Lord is with thee.
Blessed art thou amongst women
and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother of God,
pray for us sinners,
now and at the hour of our death.
Amen.
Glory Be
Glory Be to the Father,
and to the Son,
and to the Holy Spirit.
As it was in the beginning,
is now, and ever shall be,
world without end.
