PTA - Helping Hands at St.George's
Welcome to Helping Hands at St George’s
Helping Hands is a Parent/Teacher Association (PTA). All parents automatically become part of 'Helping Hands' when their child joins the school. There is a committee who organise specific events and fundraising activities. The current committee is formed by the following parents:
- Catherine Lyons (Chair)
- Michelle Gallagher (Deputy Chair)
- Claudine Daly (Treasurer)
- Katherine Prodromou (Secretary)
- Jacqui Nkechi Akinsanya (Social Media and Communication lead)
- Kerry Murphy-Okoluko (Communication lead)
The main aim of our Helping Hands community is to raise much needed funds for our school. Due to cuts in budgets our school is under immense pressure to be able to provide our children with the basics. That’s where we step in to provide the extras that our children need and enjoy!
We try to set the right example for our children, by showing them that if we work as a team, act as a community we can achieve great things.
Throughout the school year we will invite your family to join in with the fund-raising events and team meetings we host by contributing time, money, skills or advice. Our main events are the School Summer and Winter Fayres, but we also host freeze pop Fridays, doughnuts for Dads, St Patrick’s Day celebrations, Easter Egg hunts, Mother’s Day flowers and many more. If you can think of any other family fun fundraisers, we’d love to hear from you.
There are so many ways to get involved; you could join the team as a Co-Chair, volunteer to help organise or run an event, come up with fund raising ideas, join the Helping Hands What's App group or sign up to be a class link. Many hands make light work.
Roll your sleeves up and get involved, all the money raised by Helping Hands goes directly towards enhancing your child’s experience and their school life at St George’s.
The beautiful rosary garden, the play equipment in both the infant and junior playgrounds that our children enjoy and the new school library were only possible due to the PTA team fundraising efforts - without your support projects like these will not be possible.
We are always available at helpinghandsatstg@gmail.com and would love to hear from you.
Matched funding
If you work for an organisation and they have a matched funding policy (sometimes called a corporate social responsibility policy), any money you / we raise for the school could be matched by your employer. Companies may match the fundraising total for an event, or for the stall that their employee is working on. Please check with your company and let us know and we will do the rest!
If you think your company might be able to help, please contact helpinghandsatstg@gmail.com
