School Meals
At St George's we like to make sure the meals for everyone are healthy, tasty, social and fun. A child's meal choice must remain the same for one half-term with no option to switch between school meals and packed lunches on a daily basis. We require one half-term's notice to change options via an email sent to the school office.
Key Stage 1
ALL children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 are entitled to universal infant free school meals.
Key Stage 2
Thanks to the Mayor of London, ALL children in Years 3, 4, 5 and 6 will also receive free school meals from September 2023 until July 2024 when it will be reviewed. Please see the Mayor's letter at the bottom of this page.
Your child will receive a free school meals automatically, but it’s vitally important that you still complete the registration form in case your child is eligible for extra funding for their school from the Government, worth £1,300 per year. That’s extra money to spend on enrichment activities, teacher development, and targeted support for the children that need it most. It may also entitle you to other benefits like food vouchers during the holidays.
There is more information about registration here:
Those parents/carers whose children already qualify for free school meals under the Government’s existing offer must also continue to apply for free school meals as before.
You can also call the Pupil Benefit Helpline on 0208 379 5367.
Packed lunches
Glass bottles and cans are not permitted in packed lunches and, in line with our healthy school status, sweets and chocolates should not be included in your child's lunch box. As a nut-free school, please ensure that nuts or products that may contain nuts, are not included in your child's packed lunch as this could be a danger to those with allergies.
If your child has any specific dietary requirements or allergies, please email the school office at office@st-georges.enfield.sch.uk. The welfare officer will then contact you to discuss your child's needs.
